Memphis Program to Prevent Drug Abuse During Pregnancy
News broke recently of a Memphis woman who was arrested shortly after giving birth to a baby with cocaine and heroine in its system. Perhaps the most shocking part of this story is that this was the woman's the fourth child to be born addicted to drugs. One program in Memphis aims to prevent these far too common tragedies.
Renewal Place in Memphis is a transitional housing program where drug addicted women can live with their children, get sober, and learn important life and parenting skills. Families are allowed to stay in the program for up to two years. The program provides job training, positive parenting skills, and most importantly drug addiction counseling and treatment.
