Former Memphis Police Officer Alex Beard Indicted for Causing Deadly Crash
A former Memphis police officer was was indicted on two counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of aggravated assault. The indictment stems from a deadly crash that occurred in August 2012. The indictment was handed down by the grand jury on May 10, 2013. Accident reports and eye witnesses indicate that Beard was traveling over 90 mph at the time of the crash and was not using his sirens or lights. A wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit against the City of Memphis was filed in February 2013, the same month Beard was terminated from the MPD.
