Ex-Memphis Police Officer Alex Beard Gets 6 Months for Deadly Crash
Ex-Memphis police officer Alex Beard was sentenced to 6 months in jail for his role in a deadly crash last August 26. The plea deal means that Beard will not have a trial. The wreck killed Delores Epps and her daughter, Mackala Ross, and severely injured others. Civil lawsuits against the City of Memphis are still pending. Accordingly to official reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Beard was traveling 94 miles per hour a few seconds before the crash occurred. Witnesses say that Beard was not using his sirens or flashing lights and that he ran a red light.
