Eight-Year-Old Boy Dies After I-40 Crash
Eight-year-old Quindarious McGhay, of Memphis, should have celebrated Christmas with his family, but the young boy was killed in a tragic Christmas Eve traffic accident.
The Middle Tennessee car accident took place at 12:13 p.m. on December 24, 2013. Quindarious and his family were travelling on I-40 just west of the Fayette County line. They were headed west near mile marker 27 when the car stopped for an accident. Their Chevrolet Malibu was immediately rear-ended by a Jeep Wrangler. The impact of the crash caused the Malibu to hit a Ford F-150 pickup truck and the westbound cable barrier. The Malibu rolled over on its right side. Quindarious, who was sitting in the back seat on the passenger side, was killed at the scene. The driver and an adult passenger were injured.
The Jeep stopped in the right-hand ditch off I-40. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was identified as 44-year-old Bill Giannini, of Lakeland. Giannini is the former chairman of the Shelby County Election Commission and the current assistant commissioner for the state’s Department of Commerce and Insurance. He was not injured.
The F-150 truck came to a controlled stop. The driver of that vehicle was not injured.
The Tennessee car accident is still under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed at this time. Speed is not considered a factor in the fatal accident.
The Memphis auto accident attorneys at Bailey & Greer would like to offer our prayers and deepest condolences to Quindarious’s family.
